While the technical definition of nanofarming is raising edible produce on areas smaller than .01 acres, it has come to refer to any small-scale farming taking place in unusual, overlooked, or reclaimed areas.

    Spotted earlier this summer: tomato plants growing in a tree-less street tree planter outside a pizza shop on Bergen street at 6th ave. A few weeks later, it appeared that the tomato plants had been ruthlessly cut down and replaced with pepper plants. These were then also cut down replaced with a new set of pepper plants.
